The Centre for Distance Learning (CDL) at Bayero University Kano is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data, including encryption, access controls, firewalls, and regular audits. In case of a data breach, we will notify affected individuals and NITDA within 72 hours, as required by NDPR.

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined, or as required by law (e.g., academic records for 7 years post-graduation). Data is securely deleted or anonymized thereafter.

As a data subject under NDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your data.
  • Rectify inaccurate data.
  • Erase data (right to be forgotten, subject to legal obligations).
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Data portability.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.
  • Lodge complaints with NITDA.
